Steel Plates, Shims, Packers & Spacers

Steel Plates, Shims, Packers & Spacers

Steel plates also called steel shims & steel packers or steel spacers, are designed to fill gaps as well as add stability & level surfaces. These are often used to make slight adjustments to building elements, such as door frames & windows.

If you require bespoke shims with specific dimensions & materials, we can also manufacture custom made shims to your specifications.

Metal shims, due to their high strength, are ideal for aligning packaging & production equipment providing a heavy duty solution. We supply a large selection of steel packers, including steel square shims, steel horseshoe shims & steel rectangular shims.

These also feature a good level of corrosion resistance, being a great choice for outdoor applications. Our metal shims are available pre-galvanised mild steel.

Function

Steel plates / shims / packers / spacers primarily serve to fill gaps & create a snug fit between structural elements, ensuring proper alignment & stability.

Heavy Duty Materials

While plastic packers are available, steel plates / shims / packers / spacers offer greater strength & durability, especially when supporting heavier loads.

Types of Steel Shims

Our flat shims are manufactured in-house in our HP Inman workshops from corrosion resistant pre-galvanised steel.

Our metal shims are available as square shims, horseshoe shims & rectangular shims.

Applications

They are commonly used in construction to level and align doors, windows, & other frames.

Example Uses

Door & Window Frames: Used to create the correct spacing & ensure a tight fit when installing door & window frames. The strength afforded from our using steel meke them ideal for large window installation projects.

Advantages

Steel shims offer the following benefits:

  • Durability: Withstand heavy loads & resist deformation.
  • Adjustability: Can be easily adjusted & fit into various gaps.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of construction applications.
